AMBER RUN AT THE O2 ACADEMY OXFORD
I just thought I would write a piece about going to see Amber Run on the 26th April 2015.
I originally fell in love with this band’s sound when I
heard their song ‘I Found’, although it is quite a dark song the way they
produced it was amazing. Upon hearing that, I then heard their version of the
song with the London Contemporary Voices and it was incredible – the link is
below.
Of course, when they released their debut album 5AM I had to
get it, unfortunately I bought the tickets to the gig a few months prior so I
was only going by their latest EP’s. Saying this, I was definitely not
disappointed. As we were at their gig, their album was announced as 36 in the
UK Top 40 and you could definitely tell how proud they were of that achievement
(not that Joe mentioned it around 600 times)…
There was a really good vibe to the gig venue when they were
on stage, you could tell a lot of the audience new the words to their most
popular songs; Noah, Spark, I Found, Hurricane etc. In my opinion the song that
really blew up the room was Spark, because it was the song that everyone knew and
went a little bit mental. The energy that the band had was just perfect, they
were jumping and thrashing around all over the stage which showed their
enthusiasm and just excitement to get their music out into the world.
I have a lot of hope that this band will go far, and I
really hope that someone big like Radio 1 will pick up their music and tell
people how great it is. These guys have a real passion for their music and I
wish them the best for the rest of their tour.
